Hoku Materials plans to produce polysilicon, a key material used in solar modules. Polysilicon is highly purified silicon, a semiconducting material and the key raw material utilized by the solar and integrated circuit (IC) industries. Hoku Materials is in the process of constructing a polysilicon manufacturing plant with planned capacity of up to 4,000 metric tons per year, with customer shipments planned to begin in the second half of calendar year 2010.
